Bully Go Home: The Origin Story

How it began:

Bully Go Home was founded in 2015 by Denise Fussell following a life-changing experience during a summer camp panel discussion. During the session, concerns were raised about two boys, ages 8 and 10, who had been repeatedly bullying other campers. The emotional impact had become so severe that one child was too distressed to return to camp the next day.

That moment opened Denise’s eyes to the strong emotional effects bullying can have—not only on children who are targeted, but also on those who bully others. During the discussion, Denise passionately stated,
“All bullies need to go home.”

Those words inspired the name Bully Go Home and sparked a mission dedicated to preventing bullying and empowering youth at an early age.

A few years later, Denise was introduced to Andre Dennis, who shared the same passion for creating change. Andre brought a powerful vision for integrating the arts and mental health advocacy into the movement—helping young people heal, express themselves, and build confidence through creativity.

Together, they believe bullying can be prevented by reaching children early, teaching empathy, encouraging self-expression, and showing that kindness is always the better choice.
